Old Fashioned Christmas Gallery Walk


The Bedford Arts council and Bedford Main Street will be sponsoring The Old Fashioned Christmas Gallery Walk in downtown Bedford on Dec. 2 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Holiday music for the evening will include "Voices of Tyem: with Jackie B and friends singing seasonal and soulful tunes at the Centertown Stage. In Centertown Park, Santa Claus will arrive by fire truck, there will be carriage rides and the Tree Lighting, an event for the whole family. The shops downtown will have specials and will stay open late. The Bedford Academy for the Arts will be hosting cookie decorating and other cheer, with music ensembles at the Bower Center. Christmas Celebration Event


On Friday, December 2, and Saturday, Dec 3, from 5-8 p.m. the plantation where famous educator, Booker T. Washington celebrated Christmas as a slave child on the Burroughs plantation will show how Christmas was celebrated during the American Civil War with music, children's activities and refreshments. These tours will begin each night at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 p.m. Reservations for tours are required. Call 540-721-2094 for reservations.

Bedford Christmas Parade



11:00 AM is start up time. There is a new parade route this year, so be sure to take note. They are trying to get a more linear route to accomodate the large number of participants (3 high school bands, 200 cars, 100 entries). Check the website for more info.



Jefferson Choral Society Christmas Concert December 3rd and 4th!


Heritage United Methodist Church on Leesville Road in Lynchburg . Lynchburg. 12/03/2005 - 12/04/2005 $15/adults, $8/students
The Jefferson Choral Society, along with the Jefferson Youth Chorale, will present Christmas Classics and Carols on Saturday, December 3rd at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 4th at 4:00 p.m. Under the direction of Dr. Harvey Huiner and accompanied by Rose Overby on piano and Dr. Bill Green on organ, along with a brass quartet and cello, the Jefferson Choral Society will perform some of your favorite Christmas choral works. The Jefferson Youth Chorale will perform as well, under the direction of Peggy Haas Howell.

Holiday Reflections at the Lake


Every other year the Bedford Council of Garden Clubs holds a Christmas home tour. The theme this year is "Holiday Reflections on the Lake: and will be held on Sunday Dec. 4. Those attending will get to see the talents of local gardeners and learn ideas of local gardeners and learn ideas to decorate their own homes for this Christmas season. Tickets available SML Visitors Center, The General Store, SM Flowers, the Show Place, Moneta Farm Supply. $8 prior to 12/4, $10 the day of the tour. Five homes in the lake area to visit.



Big Island Christmas Parade

The Big Island Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual Christmas Parade, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m. The parade starts at the Blue Ridge Parkway Engrance and will proceed through Big Island. Santa will be visiting the Big Island Firehouse following the parade. He will be handing out bags of candy to each child. Everyone is welcome to attend.



Tea Dance


The Smith Mountain Lake Ballroom Dancers will hold their monthly Tea Dance at the Bedford Middle School on Sunday, Dec, 4 from 3 until 6 p.m. There will be a lesson on Rhumba, followed by social dancing.
