Blanket Brigade needs You!

As co-owner/co-moderator of Lynchburg Freecycle with Jeff, we often learn of needs in our community. This week, we received the following email forwarded to our group from one of our members. After speaking with the original poster, I obtained information to share this with our readers here.

As you know, we here at LynchburgVirginia believe in helping our community. We have helped out with the survivors of Hurricane Katrina, we recently hooked up with a local charity called Andy's Light, and in general we try to pass on information about area needs as we come across it.

Here is the email I received. Contact information is in the email.

"We have been told that it is going to be a very cold winter and on top of that fuel is so expensive that the care centers are monitoring and budgeting what they can spend to heat their facilities. We are trying to collect lap blankets for the homes around Lynchburg. If you have any throws that you are not using we would be happy to accept them and would appreciate them in laundered condition. Also, Value City has the fleece throws for as low as $3.99 each for anyone interested in purchasing and donating. Anyone interested in contributing a throw or throws please contact me and I can pick them up and deliver them to Marcy Catalano (head of the Blanket Brigade) who will then distribute them to the Training Center. The two adult care centers in Lynchburg have been fully accommodated and they are now trying to fill the need at the Lynchburg Training Center which houses ~500 residents. The donations are being prioritized and placed with those confined to wheelchairs first.

Thank you for your help.
