What Does the Island of Penang, off the Malay Peninsula Have in Common with Virginia and West Virginia?

Now that is a trivia question. In research for a future post on tornadoes in Virginia, I ran across this unusual tidbit of information: Peter's Mountain Roar. There is a mountain on the Virginia and West Virginia Border that just has the right geography to produce a deafening noise from the wind. There is only one other place in the world that has the same geographic tendency to do the same, the Island of Penang, off the Malay Peninsula.
