Pledge of Allegiance: Takes Another Battering in Federal Courts

News Channel 3 in the Hampton Roads is reporting:

"A federal judge in San Francisco says it is unconstitutional for public school children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, because it contains the words 'under God."'

Recently, this same argument was thrown out in Virginia Courts, now District Judge Lawrence Karlton made the ruling that the phrase "under God" is not supported by the Constitution. We have reported earlier on the history and background of the pledge. You can find that here.

The stage is set for these arguments to move to higher courts. What that will bring remains an open question.
