Danville Science Museum

Danville Science Museum is easy to get to, expanding, reasonable and full of fun and interesting exhibits. It is also one of the least expensive ways to get a year long membership that will allow you to visit over 280 other museums worldwide! Other nearby museums are the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond and the Science Museum of Western Virginia in Roanoke.

Each of these museums offers a year long membership package that will allow you access to the other museums along with several other in the state and ones in other states as well. The big difference is cost and what extras you get. I would suggest checking out each site and seeing which one has the extras you want. We joined the Science Museum of Virginia this year and were tickled to get 8 free passes to give to friends (we used the Imax ones for ourselves).

Personally, I like the Danville Science Museum and Science Museum of Virginia best. And they are easy to get to with plenty of free parking. The Science Museum of Western Virginia is harder to get to, doesn't have as many changing exhibits and the parking is not free. But on the good side, it is in Center in the Square, which also has a history museum and art museum which are wonderful for a visit.

And parents, if you haven't been to a museum for a long time, don't fret. These museums are fun! The activities are almost 100% hands-on and you will be learning right along with your kids!
