Carl Bransford Hutcherson III: Case is Going Before theLynchburg Circuit Court

Carl Bransford Hutcherson III, son of the mayor, will be appearing Thursday in Lynchburg Circuit Court. He faces charges of Possess with Intent Marijuana - 1/2 oz. to 5 lbs. This is an advisement hearing.

The Lynchburg Prosecutors office offers this definition:

Advisement: a court hearing held before a judge to inform the defendant about the charges against him/her, and his/her right to have a lawyer, and a trial. If necessary, a lawyer is appointed during this proceeding to represent the defendant at future court events.

As the Grand Jury has began again its investigation of the mayor, we are saddened by the difficulity he also faces at home, with charges placed against his son. It should be a reminder to all of us, that drugs can affect the lives of virtually anyone in our community, and only leads to tradgedy.

Carl Bransford Hutcherson III could face up to ten years in jail if convicted.

Yes, and once again a young man's life is hanging in the balance over the "evil" weed. Isn't the court system and jail system overloaded enough already? Didn't one former president of this country admit to having a joint between his lips? (yep, he did that even IF he didn't inhale), and what about the current president's foray into the white powder, cocaine?
Why don't we find REAL criminals to prosecute? If the "evil" weed were legalized, then the war on drugs could concentrate on the "hard" drugs. Even those, if our legislators had the nerve to legalize, would go away.
Why are these drugs availalbe? Because they are illegal. If they were not illegal then there is NO black market.Prices fall, the real addicts either die or get help and the lure of big money in the ghetto is gone.
One more link between goverment and organized crime.
