Lessons Learned in the Wake of Hurricane Katrina
Here is an interesting article about lessons learned regarding pet evacuations after the devastation left behind from Hurricane Katrina. One possibility are for people to have evacuation plans ahead of time for their pets (Red Cross doesn't accept pets due to the massive care conditions). Another possibility is for areas to be ready to open up more pet friendly shelters ahead of the storm. And another possibility is for the human rescuers and pet rescuers to work hand in hand. Let's hope these lessons were in place in time for Rita.
