A Blind Eye to Mad Cows

After the third cow tested postive in the United States for Mad Cow Disease, there has been an interesting development. We are going to scale back testing.

On the same day the Department of Agriculture announced the find, they also reported that testing will resume at a lesser scale.

The Calgary Sun is reporting:

"This would be a tenth of a percent of all animals slaughtered," Jean Halloran, director of food policy initiatives at Consumers Union, said yesterday. "This starts to be so small that in our opinion, it approaches a policy of don't look, don't find."

Yesterday, we reported : "If the Cows and Deer Don't Get Us, Will the Chickens?" Now we wonder if the the cows are gaining ground.
