The Kaine Blueprint: Will It Be the New Democratic Blueprint?

The red state of Virginia has just been toppled by a Democrat Timothy Kaine. Many have talked about the woes of Kilgore and the killing ads that led to his demise, in the race for governor. Few have talked about what Tim Kaine did right.

And will what Tim Kaine did right, prove to be a new model for Democrats in future races? Apparently many Democrats are looking at Kaine and his run for governor.

The International Tribune reports:

"A recent poll by the Pew Forum found that only 29 percent of the public viewed Democrats as "friendly toward religion," compared with 55 percent who said Republicans were. "

Tim Kaine, while he did not wear his "religion on his sleeve," he did make it clear that he was a man of faith. And even though, it was the Catholic faith, many Virginia's respected the principles he displayed in the race for governor. A good example was he refrained from negative ads.

While Kilgore kill ads attacked his religious beliefs, purporting that he would commute those on death row, and wouldn't even allow a Hitler to be executed. Kaine just quietly said he would support Virginia's laws.

Tim Kaine did not make an issue of his religious beliefs, one that led him on missionary service in Honduras in his younger years, but he fought a fair fight, and didn't slam Kilgore with hate ads like Kilgore did to him.

And regardless if this is a red or blue state, Virginians went to the polls and voted for Kaine. And one cannot help to wonder if the reason Virginians elected Kaine was his ability to turn his cheek from the focus of Kilgore's campaign negative attacks.

And regardless if you are a Republican or Democrat, you have to respect Tim Kaine for having respect for you. He respected your ability to see him past the arrows that were sent against him, as he stood as a man of character.

Some have commented that Kaine is an unusual Democrat, perhaps more Democrats and Republicans will be emulating Kaine.

Thank you for your comment xwife, that is an astute observation that you have made. And I have seen more cases of what you observe. And you must have to think that it must have something to do with the personalities that different parties attract.

There are exceptions though, one would be Democratic James Carville and Republican Mary Joe Matalin. They do show that a Democratic man and a Republican woman can exist together happily.

James Carville and Mary Matalin could be no further apart than any two humans but they do seem to make their marriage work.

Would it not be great that all of us could respect each other for what we are?
