Lynchburg City Planning Council: "Fools Rush In Where Angels Fear To Tread"

You have to sit back and just take in what the Lynchburg City Planning Council is proposing now. The city is thinking of moving the GLTC main transfer point to the Amtrak train station. A sleepy place in Lynchburg with a cobble stone road. Its really more like a river of cobble stones on a fair grade, and the surface is about as even an ocean with the surf up.

If you look at the pictures the top one is looking down the grade, the next is looking up. The pictures do not give justice to the dips and high points that you would run into on almost any area of this road.

Now for a moment, I want you to imagine that you are in a wheelchair. This is unfriendly terrain. Imagine how you would have to work those wheels to get up the grade, and over the bumps. Is that too hard for you to imagine. Well lets try a walker, ladies do you have high heels? You might find the same problem, this terrain would not be easy to negotiate.

The Lynchburg News and Advance gave its thumbs up on its Saturday's opinion for the 6 to 0 vote by the city planning council's recommendation to proceed with this as part of the plan. Well, we think the Lynchburg paper is confused as is the city planning council. And we invite the paper, and the city planning council to try using a wheelchair from the bottom up and see for themselves what they are expecting of our wheelchair bound residents.

Originally, the thumbs up was a sign used in Rome, it was actually the death order, stick the sword in and up. Along the way that got confused too. Much like the city planning council, and the Lynchburg News and Advance are confused on this issue.
