Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter
NASA has hit another ball out of the ball park with this latest space success. The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has signaled back that it has sucessfully inserted itself into orbit around Mars. It will take about 6 more months of aerobraking to lower it down into a nearly circular orbit.
MRO's instruments will be capable of resolving the Martian surface better than any spacecraft currently orbiting Mars. It is expected to provide more science data than all previous Mars missions combined.
I love the fact that we can get all of this information about a planet that takes 7 months to reach. I think the whole thing is fascinating and I look forward to hearing more about what MRO finds. For more information, be sure to go to the NASA website!
