Delinquent on Child Support: Social Services Got Your Number

The Roanoke Times is reporting: If you are a serious avoider of paying child support, the next call you may get on your cell phone, maybe from child support enforcement.

The Virginia Department of Social Services has issued subpoenas for the cell phone records of those seriously behind in child support. They got their numbers and addresses and may soon be calling a delinquent parent near you.

Go to the Roanoke Times for the full story.

Update: This plan of action is having so much success that plans are in the working to expand it to all delinquent accounts in Virginia. See the Richmond Times Dispatch

How about the State bring back the work farm! These people should be put to work. The produce grown could be sold at the Community Market and the local stores with profits going toward child support. Also put a lean on the vehicles!

I think what you are suggesting is good. There are sometimes reasons why people fall behind, but we all have to remember our personal responsibily for our children. And there are those who have the ability to pay who try to skirt the system. As you are, I am not sympathic to them.

I am one who is owed back child support which is over $27,000. This is totally inexcuseable. My child who is now 18 needed the money back then. Also Support Enforcement should stop taking that $25.00 fee out of the childrens child support checks and make the non-custodial parent pay that fee. After all why are we being charged if our support payments are this far behind.
